Locanda al capriolo
Worm and cosy and in the typical venetian style, the “Locanda al Capriolo” welcomes costumers from the first entrance; surrounded by the Cansiglio Forest right after its plain and precisely in Pian Osteria, last of the Cimbri’s villages which was founded in 1887 by the Azzalini brothers (Eugenio, born in 1852 and Cristiano, born in 1857, known as “Pertile” and originally from Val Bona) and their cousin Pompeo Azzalini (born in 1854).
The first houses were built by using part of the planks of the “casoni” of Val Bona. Placed at the crossroads of three valleys, it grew its importance, until it started to count about a hundred inhabitants, an inn, two taverns and a grocery shop.

In one corner, the charming fireplace heats the dining room, on winter days when the temperatures of the Cansiglio plain go below zero, the Locanda al Capriolo offers an excellent refuge since the distant 1800s when it was known as the Cimbri “inn”.
The room with thirty seats, offers simple but delicate Venetian dishes, ranging from tagliatelle with roe deer (the Locanda’s specialty) to “Pastin” (a typical Belluno’s dish based on minced meat of coarse pork and beef, similar to sausage, salty and spicy) or roe deer with polenta and mushrooms, cooked cheese and more, and to finish, homemade desserts.
You can also buy the typical products of the Cansiglio if you want to ask the innkeeper!!
The Inn also has 5 simple and welcoming rooms, to enjoy the peace and harmony of Cansiglio.
